2018 Wildfire Haze: Seattle Great Wheel and Ferry
While the Summer 2018 wildfires burned throughout the northwest, I spent time on the waterfront capturing the effects the haze was having on everyday life. This shot of Pier 58's Great Wheel was taken when Seattle was suffering its worse air quality index rating of the summer. The dense haze, however, also filtered the sun's harsh light and softened what otherwise would have been bright, metallic finish on the Wheel. Check out theother images of the Great Wheel I captured during this time for more examples.
From one of the piers I too his shot of a ferry heading to Bainbridge Island. In most late fall or winter months, an image like this would not be unusual. This was taken on a cloudless day, mid-morning, pretty much out of camera.
